5/16 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

I hope you had a nice weekend.

With only three Mondays left in the school year, the final eighteen days of school will be busy.

Beginning this week our third and fourth graders will participate in the Spring administration of the NWEA MAP assessment. In a typical school year, this assessment is given to 3rd and 4th grade students in the Fall and Spring. This year our kids took this assessment in the Winter and this week will take the Spring administration. Below is the schedule we will follow:

Many thanks to the core group of lunch/recess volunteers who’ve aided in our pandemic lunches at Lincoln. In these final days, we still have a few open time slots where support would be greatly appreciated. Please reach out to me if you are interested or willing to help.

Finally, please don’t forget about the adjustment that was made to the D90 student attendance calendar. Friday, May 28 will be a non-attendance day for all students.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more I can do to support your family. Have a wonderful week. CG

Social Emotional Learning

In continued recognition of Mental Health Awareness month:

Pillars Community Health presents TRU STORY:

A one-hour virtual presentation featuring songs from the musical TRU on Thursday, May 27 at 7 pm, followed by a panel discussion at 8 pm. TRU highlights the life of “Truman,” a man living with mental illness. The musical debuted with a sold-out run at the 2018 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival where it took home 14 nominations and 2 wins for “Best Choreography” and “Best Music.” During TRU STORY, Gosz and Fotos unpack the origins of sharing their own mental health journeys through the medium of musical theatre, and encourage viewers to find a way to tell their truths. Following the presentation, Pillars Community Health will lead a panel discussion with mental health leaders from west suburban organizations including NAMI Metro Suburban, Riveredge Hospital, and Cicero Family Services.
