Lincoln Families,
85 degrees in September, Cubs vs. Cardinals and a near perfect weekend in Chicago…. it doesn’t get much better! I hope you and your family were able to capitalize on this incredible weather over the weekend. Although it was a tough weekend for my STL Cardinals… I still managed to enjoy the weekend by working in an 18 mi marathon training run, some boating and the Sunday Cards/Cubs game!
Thanks so much to everyone who attended our annual Open House last Thursday. It was nice to see so many familiar faces mixed among the many new faces in the crowd. In the event you were unable to attend, feel free to reach out to me for a copy of the presentation. I know classroom teachers will also be happy to share with you any content you may have missed as well.
On Friday, two very large boxes filled to the brim with school supplies left Lincoln en-route to Hairgrove Elementary in Houston. In addition to the school supplies, we will also collected over two thousand dollars in gift-cards and cash to send to our Houston friends to put towards school supplies and any other necessities needed for the successful start of the school year. Thank you for your incredible generosity. Many thanks to our friends at St. Luke’s School for their assistance in delivering our collections to Houston.
The village of River Forest is planning some pavement re-construction that will impact areas adjacent to Lincoln, Roosevelt and Willard Schools in the coming weeks. Weather permitting, this work is scheduled to be completed on the Franklin Ave adjacent to Lincoln on September 27. In coordination with the village, this work will hopefully be completed after student drop-off and before student pickup (between 8:30 and 2:30 PM) Attached are two fliers from the village outlining this project.
Don’t forget this Friday, September 22 will be an 11:25 Early Release for students. D90 staff will spend the afternoon focusing on school improvement and inclusivity and equity. Please be sure to communicate dismissal plans with your child for Friday.
Finally, as always, thanks for your continued support of Lincoln School. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to help your kids or your family. Have a wonderful week. CG
