8/15 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Happy Summer! I hope this message finds you and your kids soaking up every single moment of this summer that is coming to a close all too quickly. I hope that you’ve capitalized on every opportunity to create new memories, rest, and rejuvenate. On a personal note, I enjoyed some time “off the grid” this summer, but couldn’t be more optimistic about the journey and adventures that await during the 2021-2022 school year.

The countdown is on here at Lincoln and we are excited to welcome your kids back to school on Wednesday, August 25. Due to continued Covid-19 mitigations, the beginning of this school year will look and feel different than years past. However, as was shared in Dr. Condon’s message to families last week, D90’s priorities for the year are as follows:

  1. Protect the health and safety of all students, staff, families, and community to the greatest extent practical
  2. Maintain a high-quality, equitable program of in-person instruction for all students

Travel Guidance: As you map out the remainder of your summer, I wanted to specifically address Covid-19 Quarantine and Travel guidance as it relates to travel. Please note that under the current guidance, any non-vaccinated D90 student must obtain a negative Covid-19 test result no more than 72 hours prior to arrival in Cook County or adhere to a 10 day quarantine upon arrival. Please note that remote learning will not be offered for travel related quarantine. Therefore, please plan accordingly if your travels will coincide with the beginning of the school year.

Attached you will find a link to the most up-to-date Cook County Travel Advisory. This guidance is updated every Tuesday, so please be sure to check frequently for any updates.

Class Placement and Lincoln Safety Mitigations: Finally, please look for a more detailed email from me later this week outlining specific information related to Covid-19 mitigations and Lincoln specific information.  In addition, this message will detail how and when you can access your child’s class placement information. Please know that only families who have completed the registration process will have access to their child’s placement.

We couldn’t be more excited to safely welcome your kids back to our Fine Fine School.  Until then, mask up and keep safe.

See you soon. CG

Welcome to our Lincoln School PTO!

We’re so glad you have chosen to be part of our school community. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE LINCOLN PTO.

While this year may not look the same as years past, we are excited to safely offer some of our PTO favorites from Friday Fun Lunch to various clubs and activities throughout the school year.

We would love to provide additional programs and are looking for volunteers willing to offer their time and talents. Without the help of our volunteers, the PTO could not continue to enhance and enrich the education of our students.

Our year will be a fluid one and will require flexibility, but we are excited for what it holds and look forward to seeing everyone soon.

If you have questions or would like to learn more about how you can help our Lincoln PTO, please feel free to reach out to us at Lincolnrfptopresidents@gmail.com

PTO Webstore Opens Thursday, 8/19 at 7am!

The Lincoln PTO Webstore will open on Thursday, 8/19 at 7am. Parents will need: 1) teacher assignment(s); and 2) student ID number, which will be emailed out this week.

You can find the Lincoln PTO Webstore HERE.

Here are a few of the activities you can sign up for:

  • PTO Activity Fee – The Lincoln PTO thrives on adding value in support of our children’s education and the teachers and staff who are their guides through this journey. Our success is contingent upon your contribution. Please help support our efforts with this $25 donation, available on the PTO Web Store. Your funds help provide classroom supplies and technology, support student clubs, field trips and special family events, and so much more.
  • Sign-up Genius – We will have two sign-up genius’ for both Ongoing Lincoln Volunteer Opportunities throughout the year and One Time Lincoln Volunteer Opportunities. Please take a look at these and see if anything fits your interests. We appreciate you donating your time and talents. Thank you so much for your continuous support to our Lincoln PTO!
  • Fun Lunch – Lincoln PTO Friday Fun Lunch is offered for children in grades 1-4. You may choose 1, 2, 3, or all 4 meal options. Every lunch will be individually boxed and labeled for each child. The cost for each lunch averages $7 with proceeds going directly to the Lincoln PTO. Volunteer sign-up for Fun Lunch can be found in the Ongoing Lincoln Volunteer Opportunities Sign-Up Genius.
  • 2nd Grade Bike Safety – Fall is the time to brush up on bike safety for 2nd graders as well as any child new to Lincoln! This is an informative and fun after school event. A member of the River Forest Police Department conducts a fun, informative and hands-on-the-handlebars bike safety workshop. Second graders are strongly encouraged to complete the workshop and become regular bike riders for the remainder of their Lincoln Eagle days. Classes will be offered after school on the playground on September 1st and September 2nd. Sign up for one session on the Webstore. 20 student max per day.
  • 4th Grade Activities Fee – The PTO sponsors and organizes a breakfast, activities, video, and T-shirts for 4th graders. This $25 fee covers the costs. Please add this fee to your shopping basket on the PTO Web Store.
  • 3rd/4th Grade Lunchtime Leaders Program – While historically a 4th grade volunteer opportunity, this year we will be offering openings for 3rd grade volunteers due to the separate 1 hour lunch periods. Lunchtime Leaders assist students during either the 1st or 2nd grade lunch period. Lunchtime Leaders walk around during lunch assisting students in supplying various items, answering questions and supporting arrival and dismissal. Depending on student interest level, students will average two lunch periods per month. A monthly calendar is created and distributed to 3rd and 4th grade Lunchtime Leaders.
  • Unfortunately due to the circumstances surrounding COVID we are unable to offer World Languages this year. We look forward to bringing back this popular program as soon as we are able too.

If you ordered School Supplies through the PTO, they will be delivered to your child’s classroom.
