5/5 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Happy May! I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the sunshine after the wet gloomy weather last week.

This week is national Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. It’s been said, “A teacher affects eternity; they can never tell where their influence stops.” At Lincoln, we are so fortunate to have such Fine Fine teachers and staff who arrive here each day with the common goal of making a positive impression on your child’s life and the entire community of River Forest. Please take a moment this week to send a note, email or phone call of appreciation to our teachers. The PTO has a wonderful week planned but there is no such thing as “too much,” appreciation for our teachers and staff!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and celebrate our first Fine Arts Festival. What an amazing night it was! Infinite thanks to Mrs. Kozbur and Mrs. Halter for the countless hours spent preparing our kids and our school for this incredible event for our family! There is already buzz circulating for next year! Thank you for coming and supporting this event.

Registration for the 2019-20 school year is set to open May 8, 2019. In order to improve our online registration process, District 90 is now partnering with the Ecollect/Accela School Adaptive Data Management System. Ecollect is a data collection system that resides within PowerSchool, which is the District’s student information management system. All District 90 registration forms are now embedded within the Ecollect system and will be accessible to you via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Once you open your PowerSchool Parent Portal, all of the required registration forms will be available on the left-hand navigation bar. Don’t have a PowerSchool account? No problem! We have created two documents to help. These documents can be found on our website on our Registration page, and they will also be sent to you in a separate email from the district.

Finally, I look forward to celebrating the May Lincoln birthdays at the May Principal Birthday Lunch on Thursday.

Thanks in advance for taking the time this week to celebrate our teachers and staff. Your continued support of our Fine Fine School is appreciated more than you know. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more I can do to support your family. Have a great week. CG

Quote of the Week: The best teachers show you where to look, but don’t tell you what to see!”

This is your last chance for your son or daughter to participate in one of Lincoln School’s Field Day traditions. Our kids have excitedly been watching the “big kids” (aka – 4th graders) over the years entertain and kick off Field Day with Drumming and the Maypole Dance. Now it’s their turn to participate! Field Day is scheduled for the last day of school, June 12th. Your 4th grader can choose to participate in both Maypole Dance and/or Drumming. Register NOW on the PTO Webstore!    Drumming practice is Tuesdays/Thursdays at 7:30am in the gym.  Maypole practice is Wednesdays/Fridays at 7:30am in the gym. REGISTRATION CLOSES TONIGHT at midnight.

Commemorative Video for 4th Graders: Pictures Needed by May 15th
A video will be shown at the 4th grade breakfast on the morning of the last day of school, June 12th. The video will contain pictures of the 4th graders through their years at Lincoln School. So grab a box of tissues and scroll through your old photos. Please begin to gather a variety of photos of your child commemorating all of their years at Lincoln, grades K through 4. We suggest photos from school events, school concerts, class parties, field trips, PTO events, back to school pictures, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, other clubs, youth sports teams, pictures with good Lincoln buddies, etc.

Photos can be submitted to a google drive via https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Br8wAPodrOwDK0IUThraRsnGsFNttUMu?usp=sharing or emailed to Lincoln4thgradeclass@gmail.com. We want to ensure that everyone is included so in the body of the email please include child’s name, grade / teacher at the time pic was taken. We cannot use pictures from non-school events, no matter how cute. New families to fourth grade – there’s still time to take pics!  Example: Zoo field trip, 1st grade. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT PICTURES IS MAY 15!

Feel free to contact Debby Bade and Krista Lambe at Lincoln4thgradeclass@gmail.com with any questions.
