12/3 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Happy December! I hope you enjoyed the balmy December weather this weekend.

It was a great first week back at Lincoln after a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. It’s hard to believe only 15 school days remain before the extended Winter Break.

Our 4th graders recently read the popular Jodi Picoult book “Wonder”. As a culminating activity to their reading and discussion of this incredible book, last week the PTO sponsored a field trip for our 4th graders to view the blockbuster movie based upon the book at the Lake St. Theatre. If you haven’t yet read the book or seen the movie, I highly encourage doing so.  At a time in history with so much conflict, controversy and sadness, this story provides us a platform in which we can challenge our own thoughts and engage our kids in the important conversations about always choosing to be kind!  On behalf of our 4th grade teachers and students, thank you to our PTO for funding this incredible opportunity.

Hopefully you’ve marked your calendar for our upcoming annual Winter Concerts. This year’s concerts will be held in the Lincoln Auditorium on Thursday, December 21:

  • 1st Grade-9:45
  • 2nd Grade-10:30
  • 3rd Grade-1:00
  • 4th Grade-1:45

Don’t forget to please join is in the Art Room tomorrow morning for our December PTO meeting. Our PTO provides limitless opportunities for our kids and school. Please consider taking about thirty minutes to come hear all the exciting things the PTO is doing to support our Fine Fine School.

As always, thanks for your support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can help with. Have a great week. CG

 Library Volunteers Wanted

Do you love books and kids?  Do you have 30 minutes to spare?  If you answered yes, then the Lincoln Library is looking for you!  We have a small but mighty group of volunteers who shelve the books, but would love to have a few more.  Lincoln students read a lot of books and all those books must go back on the shelves!  Best times are right after drop off and at 2:30 before pick up.  If there’s another time you can make it, let’s chat!  Please contact Mrs. Brauweiler (brauweilerd@district90.org) directly to become a Lincoln Library volunteer!

Young Authors Conference

The D90 Annual Young Authors Conference is scheduled for February 24, 2018. See the attached flyer for more information.  Any student interested is encouraged to participate. Please contact Mrs. Moriarty with any questions (moriartyp@district90.org).

Spring Fun Lunch Registration Opens 1/1/18

Fall Fun Lunch ends in early January.  If your child wants additional fun lunches for 2018, you must register on the PTO Web Store beginning on January 1st.  More information coming soon.  Please check with your children to see if their tastes have changed before registering!

Country Representatives Needed for Lincoln International Festival

Lincoln’s Third Annual International Festival will take place on Sunday, February 25 from 1-4 pm. Are you from another country or do you have a special connection to another country? We would love to have you share this country with the students of Lincoln School! Students will travel through Lincoln on 2/25 and experience the wider world through crafts, dance, and other hands on activities. Help us make this day a success by sharing your passion for another country.

If interested, please fill out this Google form.
