12/10 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,
I hope you had a great weekend. As we make the final push towards the winter break, things are exceptionally busy here at Lincoln. Here is a glance at some things to keep in mind as we march onward towards the break.

District 90 is pleased to announce the launch of our updated website, which will be available on Monday, December 11. The revised site will keep the URL, www.district90.org. Please take a moment to review the updated website on Monday. Our intention is that it remains an important source of information for visitors. Please note: To continue receiving calendar information on your devices, once the website launches it will be necessary for you to re-subscribe to the District calendar. Additional information with directions on how to re-subscribe will be forthcoming.

With the official start of winter only about a week away, our mild fall has definitely given way to much more seasonal temperatures. Winter weather in Chicago always complicates our daily recess procedures. We make every attempt to provide our kids the opportunity to be outside during recess time; however, oftentimes winter weather elements keep us indoors. Whenever the “wind-chill” is below 10 degrees F, we implement our indoor recess plan. We utilize the Weather Bug station housed at Roosevelt Middle School as our source when making this decision. If you wish to download the free Weather Bug Smart Phone App, it can be found in both the Apple and Android app stores. On outdoor recess days, students who have snow pants, boots, gloves etc. are allowed to play in the snow.

We are excited to welcome you to our annual Winter Concerts next Thursday, December 21. When arriving please be sure to enter through the Franklin St. entrance. Here again is the schedule for our performances:
Thursday, December 21
1-9:45
2-10:30
3-1:00
4-1:45

Finally, I am looking forward to celebrating December Principal Birthday Lunch on Thursday, December 14.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to support your child or your family. Have a great week. CG

A Very Important Message from your School Nurse

Please remember during cold and flu season to keep your child home if they are sick. If they have a fever they need to be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before they can return to school. If they are vomiting and/or have diarrhea, make sure it has been at least 24 hours since the last episode before returning to school. If your child has an excessively runny nose or cannot stop coughing, it may be a good idea to keep them home. This is to protect your child from catching something if their immune system is down, as well as to protect the other students and staff. Thank you for doing your part to keep everyone at Lincoln School healthy.

If you have any questions at all please contact our school nurse, Erin Godellas at godellase@district90.org or 708-366-7340 x 8034.
