3/15 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

I hope this Lincoln Log finds you well and keeping healthy during these unprecedented times.

As you can imagine, the past week was spent preparing for our upcoming E-Learning Days. While nothing can take the place of direct teacher/student instruction within the walls of our Fine Fine School, please rest assured that our Fine Fine teachers have worked diligently and collectively to prepare for the first ever launch of E-Learning in D90. There will likely be hiccups and questions along the way, but please know that all attempts have been made to make learning as accessible and intentional as possible during our days away from Lincoln. I couldn’t be prouder of the Lincoln staff and the plans they have made for our Lincoln Eagles to learn virtually for the coming days. Should you have further questions about E-Learning in D90, attached is a link that will be helpful in answering your questions.

As was outlined in Dr. Condon’s address to families last week, assignments will be posted daily by 9:00AM. Students/families will have until 9:00PM to submit responses or work for the day. Elementary student daily attendance will be evidenced by student completion and/or submission of assignments and activities. Classroom teachers will monitor attendance and submit absences to Ms. Kopriva on a daily basis. Because it is important to continue to monitor student attendance during E-Learning days, please be sure to email Ms. Kopriva or myself if your child is ill and unable to complete assignments on any given day. koprivam@district90.org or godfreyc@district90.org.

Additionally, it will also be important for Nurse Godellas to remain aware of any illnesses of Lincoln students. Therefore, please email her at godellase@district90.org if your child is diagnosed with any illness you might generally communicate with her about (i.e. flu, strep-throat, pertussis, etc.) Additionally, should anyone in your home come in contact with or test positive for COVID-19, please be sure to communicate that information with her.

These are uncertain times, and as challenging as it may be, our kids look to the adults in their lives for stability and guidance. Therefore, attached is a resourceful publication from the National Association of School Nurses and the National Association of School Psychologists of how to talk with kids about COVID-19.

To do my part to reassure our kids, each day of our absence from school, I’ll be uploading a personal video message to each students See-Saw account. I’m excited to present to your family a daily message and story time from the comforts of my home!

Over the past few weeks we’ve been clearly reminded that what unites us as humans is much stronger than anything that divides us. In the coming days and weeks, take care of yourselves and each other. Please reach out if there is anything I can do support your or your family. As always, thank you for your continued support of our Fine Fine School!

Be well.

Reminder from your school nurse

I hope everyone is staying healthy.  Remember to get lots of rest, eat balanced meals, and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds frequently.  For more in depth instructions on proper hand washing, please visit https://www.cdc.gov/cdctv/healthyliving/hygiene/fight-germs-wash-hands.html for a short video presentation.   It is also important to avoid large crowds and stay at home as much as possible.  During your time away from school, I will be checking email and am available if needed.  Please continue to email me with any contagious illnesses, for example, pink eye, strep throat and influenza.  If you have reason to believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 and/or if you are awaiting test results, please contact me either by email godellase@district90.org or phone 708-214-8408 to let me know.  Due to the long incubation period, we want to approach all of this with an abundance of caution since we do have immunocompromised students and staff at Lincoln Elementary.  As always, it is important that I am aware of all the different illnesses in our school community to help protect all of our students and staff members.  If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our Lincoln Community safe,

Erin Godellas
