Fun Lunch for Friday 5/16:  Chicken Tenders

FatDuckMany thanks to Fat Duck, 7218 Madison Avenue, Forest Park and our dedicated Fun Lunch Volunteers. *Please note: Fun Lunch is on Friday this week; it changed from Thursday due to the rescheduling of Field Day to 5/30.

A Super Thank You

PTO superman Thanks to all of the parents and students who helped make our Super Hero Staff Appreciation week a success.  Our teachers and staff members were wowed by the shows of appreciation and support they received.  A special thank you to Angie’s Pantry for donating delicious cookies for the dessert bar.  Hooray for our wonderful Lincoln community!

Let’s Thank Our Crossing Guards

Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor even a polar vortex can stop our crossing guards!

Let’s thank these dedicated individuals for protecting Lincoln kids every day.

Children will have a chance to sign a big thank-you card for each guard next week; volunteers will bring the cards before and after school to both entrances. Volunteers with large manila envelopes will be collecting donations before and after school on Thursday, May 22 for both walk-up and drop-off parents/caregivers. The cards and gifts will be presented on Friday morning, May 23rd. We need volunteers to help man both entrances on Thursday…please contact Scott Winsett at “scott.winsett AT gmail.com” if you can help or have any questions. Thank you!

The Lincoln PTO is looking for volunteers for the 2014/15 school year. We are fortunate to have a history of dedicated parents with diverse talents and interests on the PTO, and we need your ideas and expertise for next year.

Regardless of your schedule, there are rewarding and time flexible PTO opportunities. Whether you can volunteer for a couple of hours or would like to chair a committee, we would love to have your help.  Many parents initially join the PTO when they are new to the community and find that it’s a great way to make lasting friendships while contributing to their children’s school.  Each year we begin with a new executive board and committee members and we promise you’ll have lots of fun as you help make Lincoln an outstanding place for students, teachers and families. We will have a PTO information table at the Ice Cream Social to help answer any questions.

Open PTO Positions for 2014-5:
Co-Vice President of Fundraising – 1
Art Appreciation – 1
Authors & Assemblies – 1
Bike Safety Workshop – 1 2nd Grade parent

If you are interested in chairing or participating in a PTO committee, we’d love to have your help.  You can email us at “njselza AT comcast.net”  if you have any questions or want to talk in more detail about where the PTO could best use your time and talents. Nikki Elza & Gina Hardy

Volunteer to help with the Lincoln PTO Newsletter & Website for the 2014-2015 school year!

We have 1 volunteer for next year, but are looking for 2 more.  3 folks rotate the weekly newsletter duties–so just once every three weeks you compile the blurbs that are submitted, do some copy and pasting, a little editing, maybe insert some images, and hit the send button.  It’s easy enough to do in the evenings after the kids are in bed.  It would be great if volunteers can also take turns attending the monthly PTO meeting, but it’s not mandatory.  You can also learn to update the PTO Website for upcoming events.  Training and support will be provided.  Interested in learning more?  Contact:  Ann Mills (anncieslica AT msn.com), Lurana Brown (luranajbrown AT yahoo.com) or Vanessa Druckman (vanessadruckman AT gmail.com).

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for the Lincoln School Ice Cream Social & Yearbook Distribution

Mark your calendars for Friday, May 30th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for our annual end-of-the-year celebration to be held on the Franklin side of the school.

Sprinkles, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a cherry will be matched with vanilla or sorbet scoops from everyone’s favorite ice cream parlor, The Brown Cow.  Enjoy your dessert while collecting signatures from friends and even teachers in the beloved Lincoln yearbook. Look for the PTO information table to find out how you can help make this and other great events happen next year.

Scoops will only be $2.25.  Inclement weather will bring our fun inside to the gym.

To volunteer for this event, please go to SignUp Genius. For questions, please contact Jennifer Moore at “jenniferandrichmoore AT hotmail.com” or Katie Moroney at “moroneykatie AT yahoo.com”   Thank you.

Still Need to order a Lincoln Yearbook?

Order on-line at the PTO Web Store. Please remember to save your receipt or save the “Thanks for Your Order” email from the PTO Web Store confirming your order. It’s an easy way to remember that you have a book & pen to pick up at the Ice Cream Social on 5/30. Not sure if you already ordered a Yearbook? Go to the PTO Web Store, select “My Account,” and then “Order History.” Scroll down to look at your orders…yearbooks went on sale in February 2014.

Attention Parents of 3rd and 4th Graders !

Practice has started for this year’s Field Day Activities.  If you are a parent of a third grade student and plan on volunteering for Maypole and Drumming next year, we can use your help now.  You will learn the routine and be prepared for next year.  These are two exciting activities to culminate students’ last year at Lincoln.  For details, please email Cheryl Considine at “braceletsbycheryl AT hotmail.com”. 4th Graders–don’t miss your chance to shine on Field Day!  It’s not too late to sign up for Maypole and Drumming.  Contact Cheryl Considine to register  “braceletsbycheryl AT hotmail.com”.  Hope to see you on Thursday!

Maypole:  Practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:45 in the morning.  (NO PRACTICE MAY 15 DUE TO CHORUS) Students will meet Mrs. Considine on the blacktop near the Franklin playground.

Drumming:  Practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first half of the lunch period.  Students will meet Mrs. Bacom at the side door of the auditorium.

Attendance for practice is critical so that children are comfortable participating and have sufficient time to learn the routine.
