5/8 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Lincoln School Moms! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful day with your family. After the past few weeks, which have felt more like February, it’s exciting to see some actual spring-like weather in the forecast for the coming week.

On behalf of the entire Lincoln School faculty and staff, thank you for all the love and gestures of appreciation shared with the Fine Fine teaching staff here at Lincoln last week during Staff Appreciation Week. Special thanks to the Lincoln PTO hospitality team for going above and beyond in celebrating our school.

With only 24 days of school remaining, we’ve been busy working to plan the return of some of our annual end of the school year events. On Friday, June 3, we are excited to announce the return of the Lincoln School Ice Cream Social.

Our annual Field Day is scheduled for the last day of school, Friday, June 10. Unlike pre-pandemic field days, this year, field day and our school picnic will only be open to students, staff and any field day volunteers. Please see the information below if you are interested in a volunteer position at Field Day. The 4th grade clap-out will take place on the Franklin blacktop at 2:30pm on Friday, June 10 and families are welcome to attend.

4th grade families, please be on the lookout for a message this week further outlining the many exciting plans for your kid’s final days as a Lincoln Eagle!

The Lincoln School Belongingness and Inclusivity team has been hard at work creating and providing various resources to support instruction focused on the various heritage and awareness months. In addition to the helpful AAPI resource guide last week, Lincoln received a donation of books in honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Month from  the One Book One World AAPI Book Drive.

Looking ahead to the short month of June, the Lincoln Belongingness and Inclusivity Committee is excited to host our first ever Pride walk. To kick off Pride month, we will be raising the Pride flag at River Forest Village Hall followed by a few laps around the blocks adjacent to Lincoln. Many thanks to the dedicated work of this committee for their support of our continued work of making Lincoln a more inclusive community. Look for more information to come. Also, please know that this committee is always looking for more volunteers to help support this important work.

Finally, this Thursday, May 12 at 2:30pm, I am looking forward to celebrating all the May birthdays at Gaga with Godfrey. If your child missed a previous month’s celebration, they are welcome to join us on Thursday.
As always, please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can ever do to better support your family. Soak in all the fun and excitement of these final days of school. Thanks as always for your kindness and support of our Fine Fine School.

Have a great week – CG
