The Food Drive is Almost Here!

It’s time to search your pantry for non-perishable donations to bring to school the week of 3/3. This drive is important help to the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, and really helps the kids perform meaningful charity. Trader Joe bags will be sent home with this week’s Friday Folders. Drop off in the Park Avenue Lobby during school hours. Thank you for your generosity.

Explore your senses and how that brain of yours processes all that incoming information…with and without your permission! All are welcome but this is geared towards the upper grades. THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF EVENT!

Don’t forget to order your Lincoln Yearbook.

Library 016A year’s worth of Lincoln memories all tied up in a hardbound edition, plus a cool pen for autographs!   Order now at the PTO Web Store to make sure you get a copy before the price increases: $20 each now; the price increases to $25 on March 3rd.   Please remember to save your receipt or save the “Thanks for Your Order” email from the PTO Web Store.  It’s an easy way to confirm you have a book to pick up at the Ice Cream Social at the end of May. Do you have photos to share with the Lincoln Yearbook? You can upload JPEG images directly to the publishers website: http://images.balfour.com/ Type in the Project Number:  412657 . No password necessary but you do need to leave your name, email, phone number, and accept the terms. Filling in the “people” and “event” fields  is optional. King Cakes at Roosevelt on Mardi Gras, March 4th!

kingCake1 Enjoy a delicious traditional New Orleans Mardi Gras dessert—a jumbo cinnamon sweet roll ring decorated with purple, green & gold icing, adorned with beads and a little King Cake baby.

Order deadline is March 1st at noon (pre-orders only). Cakes are $14 each on the Roosevelt PTO Web Store.  Napkins and server included; serves 10-16.

You still have time to order for pick next Tuesday, Mardi Gras Day at Roosevelt Middle School. We will have volunteers on Oak Street. Just pull into the circle driveway in front & give your name. We’ll run the cake right to your car. Just that easy. Pick up is from 2:45-3:00pm just in time to continue on to Lincoln.

The King Cakes are from Reuter’s Bakery on Grand Ave, Chicago. King Cake is a nut-free item, but Reuter’s is not a nut-free bakery.

Waste Free Wednesdays are still happening!  Pack your kids a waste free lunch on Wednesdays, and your child will receive a hand stamp.  Want to see Lincoln in action during the lunch hour?  Volunteer to give out hand stamps on any given Wednesday from 11:25 to 12:25!  Training provided.  Sign up here.

Art Fundraiser in Honor of Kathleen Kurrle

Kurrle PaintingDon Meyer, grandfather of Lincoln students, has painted a beautiful oil painting inspired by Kathleen Kurrle. The painting is being sold by silent auction at Blue Max Coffee, 26 Lathrop Avenue, Forest Park.

Please stop by to enter a bid and admire this tribute. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of the painting will go to the Kurrle family.

The silent auction will go on at Blue Max until March 6.


Get Dinner Delivered and Donate to the Lincoln PTO!

Puree FlyerIt’s Wednesday, which means Puree’s will donate 10% of sales to the Lincoln PTO for take out and delivery orders, as long as you mention our school.  Please see the attached menu and take a break from cooking!  Puree’s Menu
