11/6 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

In the famous words of Harry Carry, “Holy Cow!” What an incredible week it has been for our city! Like each of you, I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like the celebrations and unity that have engulfed Chicago since becoming World Champions. During Fun Lunch on Friday we live streamed the Cubs celebration parade for the kids to watch. Below is picture from Fun Lunch Parade Watch. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed wearing my blue and flying the W in support of the Cubs, but I’m officially ready to be back in a color that is more appropriate for my style: Red!
fullsizerender-6To honor Election Day and our democracy, on Tuesday our kids will head to the Lincoln School voting booth to cast their ballots for the name of our new Lincoln School eagle mascot. We’ve created voting books, an electronic ballot, and “I’ve Voted,” stickers so that our kids have a ‘realistic’ voting experience! The final names on our ballot are Penny, Ethel, Eddie, and Abe! We will announce the results of our election during Wednesday’s Veterans Day Assembly.

As mentioned, Wednesday we will hold our Veterans Day Assembly at 10:00. Please be sure to RSVP to me the name of any Veteran that you would like to invite. godfreyc@district90.org. Additionally, here is a link to the Veteran Recognition form, in the event you would like to have a Veteran honored in our Hall of Honor! In addition to the assembly, all students will also be making cards for veterans that will be delivered to the VA Hospital and be given to Veterans on the breakfast tray on Friday!

Finally, don’t forget our parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evening. Our teachers look forward to sharing this time with you. Please contact your child’s teacher or the school office if you have any questions.

I will be out of town on Monday and Tuesday, but please feel free to reach out via e-mail if there is anything I can help with. Thanks for your support of our school!

The Lincoln Book Fair Is Coming!

The book fair is in the Lincoln Library, Tuesday, November 15th through Friday morning, November 18th.

Get a head start on your holiday shopping at tax-free prices and support our school library by shopping for quality books, calendars and other fun gifts at the Lincoln PTO Book Fair.
Your child will visit the book fair on Tuesday, November 15 to make a personal wish list to help you learn what they might like for their own bookshelves. There will also be staff wish lists for those who may be looking for the perfect gift to show your appreciation. Look for the “Apples” on the bulletin board outside the LLC.

We will be hosting a family story time on Wednesday, November 16 from 6:00-7:00PM. We will have readers from the community.

The book mark decorating contest is back and better than ever! The week before the Fair, all students will receive a black and white book mark to decorate. The best one from each classroom will receive a $5 off coupon to use at the Book Fair! If you can’t make it to the Fair this year, you may order online at abcfairs.com. Purchases will still benefit the Lincoln PTO.

Keep Clipping Those Box Tops

box top

Each Box Top is worth $.10 for our school and they can be found on hundreds of products listed here: Box Top Items. Students can bring in clipped Box Tops and drop them in designated collection boxes found in most classrooms or the main office. We love it when parents clip the coupons carefully–that means we don’t have to.  Seriously, all cut outs have to follow the lines before we submit them (!).  Thank you for your support!
