Lincoln Families,
Happy 🌍Earth Week 🌍!
I hope your family enjoyed the long weekend. Whether your family observes Ramadan, Passover or Easter, I hope you enjoyed time with loved ones. The Godfreys enjoyed being together in St. Louis this weekend to celebrate Easter.
This week Lincoln and the PTO Green4Good Team will celebrate Earth Week. Although it will be a little chilly, hopefully the rain and snow will hold off for our Walk to School festivities. See below for more information regarding Green4Good and Earth Week.
As we look toward the next school year, one of the many preparations we engage in is the placement of students into classes. Last week, all K-3 families should have received this Class Placement 2022-23 Letter. If you have feedback, please be sure to send it to me via email on or before May 3.
Beginning tomorrow, we will re-introduce lunch tables for our 1st -4th graders. As part of our Covid-19 safety mitigations, our 1st-4th graders have been seated 6ft apart and on the floor during lunch since our return to school in the Spring of 2021. As we return to “pre-pandemic” lunch, please note that kids will be seated at 3ft distance from each other. Please let me know if you wish for your child to remain at 6ft distance so we can plan accordingly.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more we can do to support your family. Happy Earth Week. CG

Hello D90 families, please consider helping the 8th grade class collect items for their Service Project. Unfortunately, there are so many people out there without a roof over their head or food to eat. The class is collecting items to make care packages for homeless people. Items that are needed-travel size shampoo, travel size soap, travel size hand sanitizer, travel tissues, socks, granola bars and bottles of water. Items may be dropped off in a bin located in the lobby of Willard, Lincoln or Roosevelt. If you are traveling over Spring Break, bring back those hotel toiletries! The 8th graders appreciate your support.
Thank you for emailing powerschool@district90.org or helpdesk@district90.org with your technology questions/issues. Please remember to include as much information as possible, e.g., Student Name, Teacher Name, School, iPad asset tag number, etc. Screenshots, links, websites and any other information regarding the issue is helpful. For example, my iPad/computer can’t connect to the XXXXX website when I click on this link.
Additionally, if you have difficulty logging into your child’s special area classes, please be sure to reach out to that particular teacher to assist with any login issues.

Lincoln Families,
Welcome Back to School! Whatever your Spring Break plans were, I’m hopeful that your family enjoyed the time away from School. I enjoyed a visit home to St. Louis to visit family and then a little staycation here in Chicago. Like me, I’m hopeful that your family is rejuvenated and excited for the final 48 days of the school year.
Many thanks to everyone who took time to send me a note, text or letter in recognition of the recent award I received from the Illinois State Board of Education. On the Friday before break, the staff and kids had quite the celebration. As always, I’m humbled by your kindness and support. I’m honored to be counted among the many reasons that make Lincoln a Fine Fine School.
Beginning this week our 3rd and 4th graders will IAR. The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), is a federally required standardized assessment. The assessment is intended to offer insights into how students are growing academically relative to the Illinois Learning Standards in mathematics and English language arts, and also how our students perform compared to their peers across the state. W Below is the testing schedule we will follow at Lincoln.
To assist with crowd control, since our return to school during the Pandemic, all kids have been asked to enter Lincoln through their assigned entrance on either Franklin or Park Ave. Beginning tomorrow, (April 4) all 1st -4th grade students may enter or exit Lincoln through the entry of their choice. Additionally, the playgrounds will be open before and after school. As a reminder students can begin arriving at Lincoln at 8:05 each morning. Please note, there is no staff supervision prior to 8:05. In the afternoon in addition to the 3:10 dismissal bell, there will also be a 3:25 bell. At this time, any unsupervised kids will be sent home.
Please don’t forget that Kindergarten registration is now open for the Fall of 2022. Additionally, if you know of any families that will have 1st-4th graders for the coming year and are considering attending Lincoln, please inform them that they can also register at this time. Open Enrollment for current D90 students will begin later this Spring.
Finally, believe it or not, it is time to begin preparing for the next school year. Therefore, tomorrow all (K-3) Lincoln families will receive an email from me regarding the class placement process for the 22-23 school year. 4th grade families will be receiving information from Roosevelt later this Spring.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Lincoln. I’m so excited to welcome your kids back to school tomorrow. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more we can do to support your family. Have a wonderful week. All my best. CG

Regardless of your plans, these embedded breaks from school are good for the mind, body and soul! Upon the return to school on April 4 there will only be 48 days of school!!!!

Every single one of us will be overcome with anger, fear or anxiety at some point. If you never knew you had a temper, your children will introduce it to you. And those moments of intensity are our true tests of character. How will we react when our brains are in fight or flight mode? Without thought or planning, we risk lashing out at our loved ones and not only disrupting our routine but also our foundation of trust. And we have to live with the guilt and regret that comes with it. But what if we simply planned for those moments and discussed how we were going to cool down with our families? We could have the chance to bring our best selves to most testing times in life. Click here for more information to help you create an emotional safety plan.

Lincoln Families,
Despite the frigid temperatures on Saturday, I hope you had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day weekend! 🍀
After being out of school for the past week battling pneumonia, I’m excited to ease my way back into work this week. I’m happy to see your kids and be back in the saddle. Thanks for all the nice notes and messages. I’m not quite back to 100%, but well on my way! Many thanks to Ms. Gerges, Ms. Dubois, Ms. Godellas, Ms. Powers and Ms. Dwyer for keeping the ship called Lincoln afloat while I was away.
The escalating conflict in Ukraine is having a personal impact on many of our staff and Lincoln families with Ukrainian heritage. Therefore, to support our Ukrainian friends both here and abroad, we invite your family to consider participating in our Lincoln School collection drive. Between March 7th and March 18th, we will have collection bins in the Park Lobby where kids may drop the following items for refugee children:
In the event your family wishes to make a monetary contribution, that can also be done using this link. Additionally, we are encouraging anyone who wishes to do so to wear blue/yellow this coming Friday, March 18th. The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine – below are just a few of the incredible sunflower art pieces created by our Lincoln artists on display throughout our school.
To help usher in Spring Break (March 21-25th), next week we will celebrate our annual Spring Break Spirit Week. Be on the lookout this week for more information about the fun we have planned for the final days before Spring Break.
Finally, this Thursday, March 17th, I look forward to making up the March Birthdays – Gaga with Godfrey celebration that was postponed last week due to my absence.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our Fine Fine School. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more we can do to support your kids and family. I’m looking forward to being back. Have a great week. CG

We are looking for volunteers for each lunch hour on April 6th and 13th as well as during Earth Week, April 18th – 20th. Please consider volunteering via SignUp Genius. It’s truly a fun way to interact with students!
“What is happening in Ukraine can be frightening for both children and adults. Ignoring or avoiding the topic can lead to children feeling lost, alone and scared, which can affect their health and well-being. It is essential to have open and honest conversations with children to help them process what is happening.” — Ane Lemche, Save the Children
Here are a couple of great resources to help families process the current events with children:

Securely Home is an app that allows parents to have considerable control over their child’s iPad while at home.
