Lincoln School Newsletter Week of August 24

Screen Shot 2014-08-26 at 10.45.35 AMGreetings from Mr. Godfrey

Welcome Back to School Lincoln Eagles,

After months of preparation, the excitement of the first day of school is among us. Hopefully over the weekend, you were able to work in some last minute relaxation and quality time with your kids. I look forward to welcoming your family back to school tomorrow morning for the first day of school!

A very special welcome to our new Kindergarten class as well as all other new families to Lincoln. As I have quickly learned, Lincoln is a special place and I know you will enjoy being a part of the Lincoln Family! In addition to new families and a new principal, there will be a few other new faces around Lincoln this year. Please join me in welcoming:
Ms. Oliva- Speech Language
Ms. Orlando-School Psychologist
Mrs. Voss- Resource

The Lincoln School staff, faculty and PTO have been busy getting ready for the school year, decorating the building and doing last-minute preparations for students’ arrival. We’re looking forward to an exciting first day of school and a great year. In addition to welcoming new students and new staff members to Lincoln we are also extremely excited to debut the new addition to our school. After months of construction only some minor cosmetic finishing touches separate us from the completion of this state of the art addition to our school. As anticipated, all instructional spaces needed for the start of school are complete!

As we continue to kick off the start of the school year, I hope to see many of you at the inaugural Lincoln Back to School Picnic on Thursday evening, August 27 from 5:30-7:00 on the Franklin Street Playground area.

In closing, thank you for making me feel so welcome here at Lincoln. Please know my door is always open if there is ever anything I can do to help you or your kids.

Welcome Back to School!

– Casey Godfrey

We Have the Right Volunteer Opportunity for You!

446px-Uncle_Sam_(pointing_finger)Whether you work full time or from home, we have volunteer opportunities to fit your life and schedule. Come take a look on our Sign Up Genius volunteer page to see how you can best contribute your time to your child’s school. We need room parents, fun lunch volunteers, book fair helpers, pancake flippers, and even silent auction sales experts. Volunteer for a one day commitment, or regularly throughout the year. You can work from home, in the classroom, or in the evening. Take a look – we’d love your help! We also have some PTO positions to fill:

        • Web Store co-chair
        • Free Fundraisers (Box Tops, Panera & Lou Malnati’s nights)
        • Volunteer Coordinator/Sign Up Genius co-chair

We try to have 2 volunteers for every PTO Position, so “co-chair” means you already have a partner for this job. Please contact Amy Dwyer  “amyadwyer AT gmail.com”  or Tammy Travis  “tamara_irwin AT yahoo.com” for more information.  Thank you.

Did you meet any new Lincoln families?

Look for our yard signs around town! We have placed welcome signs in the yards of families who are new to Lincoln.  Please take a moment to introduce yourself and extend a warm welcome to the Lincoln community.  While you’re at it, please be sure to tell them to sign up for the Lincoln PTO Newsletter.  Just look on the right hand side of our web page for the sign up button.  Thanks!
