Lincoln Log 5/3

Lincoln families,

I hope your family enjoyed the beautiful first weekend of May. Let’s hope that the sunshine and springtime temperatures are a sign of good things to come!

Happy Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week! As you might know this week is Teacher and Staff appreciation week. Unfortunately, we aren’t in session to appropriately celebrate the Fine Fine staff at Lincoln. But don’t let that stop your family from getting creative and taking a few minutes each day this week to celebrate the staff at our Fine Fine School.

Here are just a few ideas:
-Record a message of your child/family acknowledging staff and send it via email.
-Have kids draw pictures, signs, cards or even pose for pictures that can be e-mailed or sent via SeeSaw to teachers
-Families can write an email to teachers expressing their gratitude
-The possibilities are endless…….

Please don’t forget to celebrate everyone including…. Music, Art, PE, Library, STEM, Specialists, Resource Teachers, Aides, Custodians etc. It takes all these Fine Fine people to make our Fine Fine School run!

Thanks for reminding our teachers just how Fine they truly are!

Wednesday, May 6 is National School Nurses Day, so don’t forget to send the amazing Ms. Godellas some good vibes, nice notes or some Lincoln School Love this week. She is the finest School Nurse around and we are so lucky to have her taking care of us all!

Finally, as E-Learning continues, there are likely many questions beginning to surface. The D90 Administrative team has been working diligently to forecast potential questions and prepare solutions for these unprecedented times. Here is a link to some frequently asked questions regarding E-Learning. Please reach out with any questions I might help with.

As always, thanks for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more I can do to better support your kids and family. I wish your family continued health and wellness! Have a great week. CG

May’s PTO meeting – moved to 5/26!

May’s PTO meeting has been moved to May 26th at 9:00 AM.  This will be a virtual meeting and a Zoom link will be available in the Lincoln Log that will go out on Monday, May 25th.  We look forward to seeing everyone and discussing end of the year business as well as planning for next year.  All are welcome to join.

Fun Lunch update – options for families

When it became official that we were not going to go back to school this year, the D90 PTOs got to work to figure out the logistics of Fun Lunch.  There were 10 fun lunches left in the 2019/2020 school year and we have decided upon the following options for parents that purchased Fun Lunch for their students.

Option 1: Click here for a refund for these lunches.  https://lincolnpto.revtrak.net/fun-lunch-grades-1-4/#/v/fun-lunch-refunds

Option 2: Do nothing and your unused Fun Lunch payment will be a donation to the Lincoln PTO.  We will be giving a portion of the unused Fun Lunch money to the Hephzibah Home in Oak Park.  They currently have 25 children sheltered in place and are in need of support.

As we all know, this is an unprecedented time and we are all trying to figure things out day by day.  If you are asking for a refund, please be patient with us as it has to be done individually and will take some time.

If we don’t hear from you by May 18th, we will assume you are donating your payment to the PTO/Hephzibah Home. Thank you for your support of the Lincoln PTO and if you have any questions, please contact Ginger Timchak at gingertimchak@gmail.com

Attention 4th grade families – t-shirt size needed by Monday, 5/4!

T-Shirt sizes needed by Monday, May 4!

It is tradition for each graduating 4th grader to receive a special t-shirt to commemorate their days at Lincoln. While they will sadly not be able to wear them on field day this year, special plans are in the works to still celebrate your student… so stay tuned!! At this time, please click here to log onto the PTO Web Store to select the t-shirt size for your student. Part of your 4th grade activities fee pays for this t-shirt. If you have not paid the $25 fee and would still like to, please click here. Any funds collected that exceed the cost of our planned activities will be used toward a gift to Lincoln School on behalf of the class of 2020.

Commemorative video for 4th graders: pictures needed by Monday, May 18!

It is a tradition at Lincoln School to assemble a video collage of photos for the graduating 4th graders commemorating their years at Lincoln, grades K through 4. The video will contain pictures of the 4th graders through their years at Lincoln School. So grab a box of tissues and scroll through your old photos. We suggest photos from school events, school concerts, class parties, field trips, PTO events, PTO Clubs, back to school pictures, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, pictures with good Lincoln buddies, etc. Please refrain from sending photos from birthday parties, holidays or religious events. (We cannot use photos from non-school related events, as cute as they may be.)

Photos can be emailed to Lincoln4thgradeclass@gmail.comDEADLINE TO SUBMIT PICTURES IS MONDAY, MAY 18!!

Feel free to contact Adrian Dinu and Debbie Kellogg at Lincoln4thgradeclass@gmail.com or Amy Dwyer at amyadwyer@gmail.com with any questions.

** The video is typically shown at the 4th grade breakfast on the last day of school. Unfortunately, as we all know, the breakfast gathering is not possible this year. We plan to work with Mr. Godfrey and the District 90 technology team on a way to share this video privately and securely. If you do not want your child included in this video, please let Mr. Godfrey know.
