9/13 Lincoln Log

Lincoln School Families,

Welcome to the fourth week of school! I hope you had a great weekend. My weekend was full of fun and friends celebrating the wedding of some close friends in New York. With the kick off of football season and the cooler temperatures, it looks as if Fall is quickly approaching!

Last week was another great week here at Lincoln. Our first PTO meeting was well attended and set the tone for what promises to be a great year. Last Thursday was also the first Principal Birthday Lunch. I had such a great time celebrating with the August and September Birthdays! I hope your kids had as much fun as I did. Stay tuned for details on the forthcoming October Principal Birthday Lunch.

This coming week also looks to be a busy one here at Lincoln. The theme of this week will be “Safety Week.” Each day this week your kids will participate in one of our very important safety drills. (Fire, Severe Weather, Earthquake and Lockdown). Each day we will also focus on walking/biking to school safety and playground safety. Throughout the school year, we will partner with the River Forest Fire and Police Departments to engage in these drills to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

In addition to Safety Week, we will also continue with our Fall NWEA MAP assessments. On Friday, we are excited to welcome the Imagination Theatre to Lincoln where the focus of their performances will be unveiling our “Buddy Bench” with the theme of “Showing Respect.” Finally, I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday evening for our Lincoln School Family Movie night. Please see the information below for more details on this exciting night for our community.

As always, thanks for your continued support of our school. Please never hesitate to contact me if there is anything I can ever do for you or your kids. I look forward to seeing you around this week! Go Bears!

Casey

Friday is Movie Night!

Movie night will take place this Friday, September 18th. We will be showing Big Hero 6 out on the Franklin side lawn at dusk. Big Hero 6 Tickets are $6 in advance and $10 at the door and are available on the Web Store.

Popcorn from Wells Street Popcorn will be included with the price of admission, and nut-free cookies from Buttercream Bakery will be sold for $2 each (gluten and dairy-free options available; cookies processed in a facility that also processes tree nuts and peanuts).

We hope this will be a waste free event, bring your own water bottles and popcorn bowls along with your blankets and chairs. We will not be selling hot dogs this year but people are welcome to bring their own picnic dinner.

For more information, please see the attached LINCOLN MOVIE Night Flyer or contact movie night co-chairs Krista Lambe at “Kristalambe AT gmail.com” and Missy D’Alise at “missydalise AT icloud.com”.

We need volunteers to make this popular night a success! Set up is covered but we need popcorn scoopers and cookie people. Please sign up at Sign Up Genius if you are available to help out on Movie Night!

Our rain date is Friday 9/25.
