9/11 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Hopefully your family had a great weekend. It’s always a sign that fall is quickly approaching when football returns to occupy most Sunday afternoons! I hope you enjoyed a Sunday Funday cheering on the Bears or whatever team you support.

Thanks so much for your attendance, participation and feedback at our Open House this past week. Roughly 90% of our families were in attendance. As I shared in my presentation, your support is what makes our school such a “fine, fine” place.  As educators we always tend to feel that the school year “unofficially” begins when Open House is in the rear view mirror.

Many thanks to our PTO who provided coolers and ice stations for our students and staff during last week’s heat-wave. Due to the less than ideal conditions the heat created last week, we postponed NWEA MAP testing for grades 2-4. Below is the updated schedule we will follow this week.

I’m in an out of town wedding next weekend, so unfortunately will have to miss our annual Family Movie Night. I encourage you and your family to attend this fun event. So far the forecast for Friday looks perfect.

Finally, don’t forget that Wednesday is the September Principal Birthday Lunch. I look forward to celebrating with our September birthdays.

As always, please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to support your family. Thanks for your support of our school. Have a great week.  CG

Lincoln Library – Looking for Volunteers

Mrs. Brauweiler is looking for some parent volunteers to help out in the library.  Parents would help shelve books so they can be ready for checkout quicker.

The following times are available for volunteering:

  • 8:30 – 9:00 – Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • 2:40 – 3:10 – Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

You will be able to sign up for a time that is convenient for you generally on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

Once we have our list of volunteers, we will have a library orientation to show how the library works.  Shelving requires attention to detail and a love of organization!

If you are interested in helping out the library and Lincoln School, please contact Mrs. Brauweiler at brauweilerd@district90.org.  Please list the days and times you could be available.

We Have the Right Volunteer Opportunity for You!

Whether you work full time or from home, we have volunteer opportunities to fit your life and schedule.  Our PTO Sign Up Genius volunteer page has openings. Take a look to to see how you can best contribute your time to your child’s school.  We need room parents, fun lunch volunteers, book fair helpers, pancake flippers, and even silent auction sales experts. Volunteer for a one day commitment, or regularly throughout the year. You can work from home, in the classroom, or in the evening.  We’d love your help!

And please note that you can be involved with the PTO without attending PTO meetings – we welcome new ideas and feedback at any time, not just during our meetings!

Please contact Amy Dwyer  (“amyadwyer AT gmail.com”) or Suzanne D’Agostino (“suzanne.dagostino AT gmail.com”) for more information.  Thank you.
