Lincoln Families,
Happy Labor Day! I hope your family enjoyed the extra day this weekend. I know for me, the extra day was much needed! Hopefully, your family took this time to rejuvenate for the coming week.
With the first five days of school now in the rear view mirror, I’d like to thank each of you and your kids for all of the support, patience, and perseverance during the past week. Although there were some technology glitches and connectivity issues, we all survived week one. I couldn’t be prouder of our teachers and your kids for all their efforts and genuine acts of Lincoln School P.R.I.D.E. during these first days. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to acknowledge our Fine Fine teachers, by sending a email, phone call or note. No one wants your kids back at Lincoln more than them.
Remote learning has required our teachers to reinvent themselves and present instruction in ways previously unimagined. In many ways, they are on stage all day with an audience of kids and family members huddled around devices. Therefore please continue to provide them accolades and grace as they continue to work their magic though these new methods of instruction. On this continued journey into uncharted waters, each day we reflect upon the lessons learned and use them as fuel to better navigate the path forward!
Please continue to contact helpdesk@district90.org with any technology concerns. Also, please note that students are now signed into Seesaw with Google, therefore you no longer need the classroom codes. Using classroom codes will result in a duplicate user. Additionally, please encourage your child to wear their headphones during instruction. This really helps to eliminate the distractions of background noises. Finally, while I realize many families and caregivers are also watching and listening to lessons as a support to their kids, please refrain from asking questions or interrupting teacher instruction while on Zoom. Instead, please send your child’s teacher an email and they will happily respond to your inquiry.
During any typical school year, we’d be so excited to welcome your family to Lincoln’s Open House to officially celebrate the start of a new year and to meet your child’s new teacher. However, like most things in 2020, this year’s Open House Event will be reimagined. At 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 15, all teachers at Lincoln will share with you a video link for you to view their Open House presentations. Please note this is a date change from the originally scheduled date of Thursday, September 10.
Beginning next week (Sept. 14-18) we will have our first school supply/materials pick up of the school year. Each student will be issued a drawstring backpack, labeled with their name. Inside the backpack, you will find important resources from your child’s teachers including library books. Student bags will be divided by teacher and available for pick up under the tents located on the Franklin playground. For social distancing and crowd prevention purposes, we will use the following daily schedule for pick up:
Supply Pick-up/Drop-off Schedule:
8:00AM – 2:00PM
4th Grade: Monday, September 14
3rd Grade: Tuesday, September 15
2nd Grade: Wednesday, September 16

**Supply pick up/drop off will occur every two weeks. The next dates will occur during the week of Sept. 28- Oct. 2. If you are unable to pick up or arrange to have your child’s materials picked up, please contact myself or our secretary Ms. Dubois duboist@district90.org.

Thanks to you!
Thanks to your PTO donations, we are able to fulfill requested Lincoln Elementary School Teacher Wish Lists for classroom furniture and materials every year. Annually, we are able to provide clubs, after school activities, and field trips for our students.
In 2019, the PTO provided the school and PE department with a Gaga Pit for year round activity and fun. In 2020, the PTO updated the Teachers Lounge to create a bright and fresh communal space.
We are better together and truly appreciate all of your support without which this would not be possible.
Whether near or far, show your Lincoln spirit with masks, t-shirts, sweatshirts, pj pants and more while raising funds for our school. This is brought to you by the Lincoln PTO and the PTO receives a percentage of sale proceeds. The store will close on 9/13 with items purchased to be delivered the first week in October.
