9/26 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

I hope you enjoyed this beautiful first weekend of Fall. I spent the weekend cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals here in Chicago as my favorite team fights for a spot in the baseball playoffs! However you spent your weekend, I hope it was full of time spent with family, friends or just simply enjoying this beautiful weather. It’s hard to believe that, by the week’s end, we will be into the month of October. Thank you for your ongoing support of Lincoln that has helped us kick off this unusual school year relatively seamlessly!

Please remember that D90 continues to follow the travel guidance set for by the Cook County Department of Public Health. Therefore, if your family travels to one of the 48 states currently indicated “orange” on the Cook County Travel Advisory list, it is required that your unvaccinated Lincoln Eagle be administered a PCR Covid-19 test at a testing center or medical facility within 72 hours of return  too or upon return to Cook County. For any situation where this scenario is applicable, the student will remain out of school until Ms. Godellas has received confirmation of the negative PCR Covid-19 test. This guidance is updated regularly, so please be sure to always view the Cook County Travel Advisory website for the most up to date information.

We are excited to welcome Ms. Megan Jackson to Lincoln School as our new English Language (EL) teacher. As a River Forest native and D90 graduate,  Megan comes to Lincoln most recently from Chicago Public Schools. Her previous experiences include work in San Jose, California and time with the Columbia Teachers College in New York. This, accompanied by her multiple educational endorsements, will make her an incredible asset to the Lincoln School faculty.

Modeling kindness, acceptance and gratitude is at the core of our work at Lincoln School. Therefore, take some time to spread some Lincoln Love to a staff, student or Lincoln community member: Lincoln Love

Finally, as you are aware, the parkways and sidewalks adjacent to Lincoln become very crowded with kids and adults during the morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. Therefore, please consider not entering the perimeter of Lincoln with pets during this time. As of late, we’ve encountered a few instances of dogs startling kids and other passersby. Therefore, to the extent possible, please take this into consideration when walking your child to school with pets.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more I can do to support your family. Have a great week.

SAVE THE DATE – International Walk and Bike to School Week – OCTOBER 4-8

SAVE THE DATE for International Walk and Bike to School Week – OCTOBER 4-8

Sponsored by the PTO’s Connect4Kids and Green4Good Committees, Lincoln will join kids from around the globe in celebrating International Walk & Bike to School week.

Every student who walks or bikes to school will receive a special “ribbon” to tie to his or her backpack. This year students are encouraged to walk together with friends and neighbors in informal “Walking School Buses”.

A to Z Directory Update

During the summer registration process, families were asked if they wanted family directory information to be included in the AtoZ Directory, which is an online directory app supported by the District on behalf of our PTOs. Families that chose to be included in the directory recently received a message that generated some confusion. The message informed parents/guardians about the directory’s new software infrastructure, Membership Toolkit, and offered additional modules, such as PTA memberships, directories, volunteer sign-ups, and more.

While these additional modules have always been available to the District, they have never been activated. Only the AtoZ Directory and associated “list” modules have been activated and are available for use by D90 families. That situation continues to be the case.

However, families who wish to participate will need to sign up for a new account with the AtoZ Membership Toolkit under the new software infrastructure. Attached below is the AtoZ memo with step-by-step directions for signing up for the directory. Even families who already have an AtoZ Directory account will need to re-register in order to continue using the directory. For example, my iPad/computer can’t connect to the XXXXX website when I click on this link.

Additionally, if you have difficulty logging into your child’s special area classes, please be sure to reach out to that particular teacher to assist with any login issues.
