8/29 Lincoln LOG

Lincoln Families,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that your kids got some good rest after a busy first three days of school. It’s so great to have your kids back at Lincoln – however, after a relaxing summer, we educators can easily forget how exhausting the first days of school can be.

This week is Safety Week at Lincoln. In partnership with the River Forest Police and Fire Departments, we will practice and review school safety drills and procedures.

On Thursday at 2:30pm, all August birthdays will be invited to join me outside for a game of gaga ball – “GaGa with Godfrey!” – to celebrate our first Principal Birthday Celebration of the year.

Here are a few reminders as we prepare for the week:

  • 8:05-8:20 – Student Arrival
  • 8:20 – School Begins
  • 3:10 – School Dismissal
  • AM Kindergarten – 8:20-11:05
  • PM Kindergarten – 12:20-3:10
  • Please be sure your kids enter Lincoln through their designated entrance!

  • Don’t forget to Mask-Up! 😷
  • Only students and staff should congregate on the school grounds
  • Effective immediately, D90 will only accept PCR Covid tests to return to school from a location indicated on the Chicago Travel Advisory
  • Here is the link to the Cook County Travel Advisory

As always, thanks for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more I can do to support your family. Have a great week. CG

2nd Grade Bike Safety – THIS WEEK
Limited Spots Remain – PTO Webstore

Fall is the time to brush up on bike safety for 2nd graders as well as any child new to Lincoln! This is an informative and fun after school event. A member of the River Forest Police Department conducts a fun, informative and hands-on-the-handlebars bike safety workshop. Second graders are strongly encouraged to complete the workshop and become regular bike riders for the remainder of their Lincoln Eagle days. Classes will be offered after school on the playground from 3:10pm-4:30pm on September 1st and September 2nd. Sign up for one session on the Webstore. 20 student max per day.

3rd/4th Grade Lunchtime Leaders
Register NOW on PTO Webstore

While historically a 4th grade volunteer opportunity, this year we will be offering openings for 3rd grade volunteers due to the separate 1 hour lunch periods. Overseen by Mr. Godfrey, Lunchtime Leaders assist students during either the 1st or 2nd grade lunch period. Lunchtime Leaders walk around during lunch assisting students in supplying various items, answering questions and supporting arrival and dismissal. Depending on student interest level, students will average two lunch periods per month. A monthly calendar is created and distributed to 3rd and 4th grade Lunchtime Leaders.
