Lincoln Families,
I hope you had a great weekend. It sure was nice to see the sun reappear.
On behalf of all Lincoln Staff, thank you so much for a memorable Staff Appreciation Week. I know our staff enjoyed all the treats, notes and kind letters you sent.
Wednesday, May 10 is School Nurse Appreciation Day. When it comes to school nurses and all around incredible people, they don’t get much better than Erin Godellas, so please consider taking a moment on Wednesday to show her some love. While her top priority is keeping your kids safe and healthy she also spends considerable time doing countless other tasks that make Lincoln School run so smoothly.
This Friday, May 12, I will be temporarily handing the reins of Lincoln School over to Principal for the Day Luke Menacho in 2nd grade, who won this distinction at the Lincoln Auction. Please take a moment to send Luke a note or stop by and visit him on Friday. I look forward to having some extra hands to help on Friday.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Lincoln. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to support you or your family. Have a great week. CG

Each year, the 3rd and 4th grade girls that participate in Girls on the Run pick a charity to contribute to. This year, the girls voted unanimously to raise money for the Oak Park Animal Care League. Come by the corner of Lathrop and Oak this Thursday between 3:30 and 4:30 to get some sweet lemonade and home baked goods! Great prices for a good cause: everything is $0.50.
Summer School Dates: June 15th-July 14th with no classes on July 4th.
Location: The Elementary Summer School will be at Willard and the Middle School Summer School will be at Roosevelt

A big thank you to all who supported last Tuesday’s Shop and Share event featuring Beautycounter, Smitten Boutique and Stella & Dot. 20% of the proceeds went back to Lincoln.
Also, our thanks to social, community and hospitality team members Anne Gall, Ginger Timchak and Amy Prestes for all of their work for staff appreciation week!
Dear Lincoln Families/PTO Members:
Dr. Condon is planning a stakeholders workshop about sustainability in District 90 for Wednesday, May 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. The workshop will be guided by a facilitator. The goal is to have a dialogue about sustainability in District 90 (what we think it means to be sustainable in our district, how do we foster sustainability, what is the district’s role and what are parents’ roles), and come up with a values statement to guide future green efforts.
Stakeholder groups represented will include administrators, teachers, principals, 8th grade students and parents (including one person from each school’s Green4Good committee). If you are interested in being the Lincoln’s PTO representative, please let me know by Monday, May 8th.
If you would like to be a part of this discussion, please let Laura Maychruk (lmaychruk AT comcast.net) know ASAP!
The mission of the PTO is to support and enhance the education of the children at Lincoln School. But without input, ideas and support from the families at Lincoln, fulfilling this mission is not possible. Volunteer opportunities are available for working and stay at home parents; for events during the week and on weekends; and for you to work on from your home. Please click here to view the list of positions available for the 2017-18 school year.
Join in 4th Grade Field Day Activities
Would your son or daughter like to participate in one of Lincoln School’s Field Day traditions? Our kids have excitedly been watching the “big kids” (aka – 4th graders) over the years entertain and kick off Field Day with Drumming and the Maypole Dance. Now it’s their turn to participate! Field Day is currently scheduled for the last day of school, Thursday, June 8. Your 4th grader can choose to participate in the Maypole Dance and/or Drumming. Practices will take place the 3 weeks leading up to Field Day. We hope to start practice the week of May 15th. Practice days/times will be announced soon, but they will most likely take place before school and during recess. Practices for each activity will not overlap. If your son or daughter is interested in participating – please Click Here for the sign up sheet. We will follow up with you when practice times have been confirmed. If you are experiencing issues w/ the sign up sheet, please email Amy Dwyer at “amyadwyer” AT gmail.com. The deadline to register for the Maypole Dance and/or Drumming is May 10.
Sincerely, 4th Grade parents – Jean Bacom (Drumming Queen), Nikki Elza (Maypole Queen)

Commemorative Video for 4th Graders: Pictures Needed
A video will be shown at the 4th grade breakfast on the morning of June 8. The video will contain pictures of the 4th graders and their years at Lincoln School. So grab a box of tissues and scroll through your old photos. Please send a variety of photos of your child commemorating all of their years at Lincoln, grades K through 4. We suggest photos from school events, school concerts, class parties, field trips, PTO events, back to school pictures, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, other clubs, youth sports teams, pictures with good Lincoln buddies, etc. Please refrain from sending photos from birthday parties, holidays or religious events.
We have set up a drop box to collect these photos. Please click here for the drop box location as well as for instructions on how to upload your pictures. You are free to use the Drop Box website or app, whichever is easier for you. The deadline for submitting photos is Friday May 19.
