Our thanks to Alpine Food Shop, 7538 W. North Ave., Elmwood Park, and to all our dedicated Fun Lunch Volunteers.
Practice has started for this year’s Field Day Activities. If you are a parent of a third grade student and plan on volunteering for Maypole and Drumming next year, we can use your help now. You will learn the routine and be prepared for next year. These are two exciting activities to culminate students’ last year at Lincoln. For details, please email Cheryl Considine at “braceletsbycheryl AT hotmail.com.”
4th Graders–don’t miss your chance to shine on Field Day! It’s not too late to sign up for Maypole and Drumming. Contact Cheryl Considine to register “braceletsbycheryl AT hotmail.com” Hope to see you on Thursday!
Maypole: Practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:45 in the morning. (NO PRACTICE THURSDAY MAY 1 & NO PRACTICE MAY 15 DUE TO CHORUS) Students will meet Mrs. Considine on the blacktop near the Franklin playground.
Drumming: Practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first half of the lunch period. Students will meet Mrs. Bacom at the side door of the auditorium.

This Friday, May 2nd is the last day to order the PTO Sponsored school supply kits for 5th grade. Order on line only, on the Roosevelt PTO Web Store. Parents new to Roosevelt will have to create a new account, but students’ Lincoln ID numbers migrate with them to Roosevelt. Avoid shopping for school supplies this summer and support the Roosevelt PTO!
It’s hard to believe that the end of the year is around the corner and that we’ll soon be saying goodbye to our fourth graders. We’re hard at work on the 4th grade slide show, so please dig in your archives and find your favorite pictures of your child’s time at Lincoln.
Pictures can be emailed to “Lincoln4thGradeSlideshow AT gmail.com”
Drive through convenience in the River Forest United Methodist Church’s parking lot (Lake and Thatcher in RF).
The week of May 5th – May 9th we are celebrating our favorite super heroes…our teachers and staff! Every day the PTO will provide Lincoln staff members with new tokens of our appreciation. But, the very best thanks comes from each of YOU and your children! Please remember to take a moment to express your gratitude to our teachers and staff for all their hard work, professionalism and dedication. Your child’s Friday Folder contained a thank you note that can be filled out and returned to the office by Friday, May 2.
It’s a busy day for our school—Field Day, the Ice Cream Social, and Yearbook Distribution. If you can lend a hand during the day, we need 10 more volunteers to help with Field Day Events. If you are coming for the picnic, why not stay for all the exciting games afterwards? Volunteer Here.
Mark your calendars for Friday, May 30th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for our annual end-of-the-year celebration to be held on the Franklin side of the school.
Sprinkles, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a cherry will be matched with vanilla or sorbet scoops from everyone’s favorite ice cream parlor, The Brown Cow. Enjoy your dessert while collecting signatures from friends and even teachers in the beloved Lincoln yearbook.
Waste Free Wednesdays continue! Pack your kids a waste free lunch on Wednesdays, and your child will receive a hand stamp. Want to see Lincoln in action during the lunch hour? Volunteer to give out hand stamps on any given Wednesday from 11:25 to 12:25! Training provided. Sign up here.
On Wednesdays Puree’s Pizza & Pasta will donate 10% of sales to the Lincoln PTO for take out and delivery orders, as long as you mention our school. Please see the attached menu and take a break from cooking! Puree’s Menu
The Lincoln PTO is looking for volunteers for the 2014/15 school year. We are fortunate to have a history of dedicated parents with diverse talents and interests on the PTO, and we need your ideas and expertise for next year.
Regardless of your schedule, there are rewarding and time flexible PTO opportunities. Whether you can volunteer for a couple of hours or would like to chair a committee, we would love to have you help. Many parents initially join the PTO when they are new to the community and find that it’s a great way to make lasting friendships while contributing to their children’s school. Each year we begin with a new executive board and committee members and we promise you’ll have lots of fun as you help make Lincoln an outstanding place for students, teachers and families.
If you are interested in chairing or participating in a PTO committee, we’d love to have your help. You can email us at njselza@comcast.net if you have any questions or want to talk in more detail about where the PTO could best use your time and talents.
