A special note from Laura Maychruk…

As Chair of the Green4Good Committee, I would like to thank all of our committee members for all of their work last week to make Earth Week at Lincoln School special for all of our students:  Vicki Freund, Molly Quinn, Sarah Hick, Sarah Hampson, Beth Chang, and Darla Vollrath.  Plus a big thank you to the 4th Graders of Heartworks!

Also a BIG THANK YOU to all of the parents, grandparents, and caregivers who walked to school with their kids and packed zero waste lunches all week!

ZERO WASTE LUNCH CHALLENGE WRAP UP
We counted 925 zero waste lunches this year compared to 602 last year–a BIG change!
3rd and 4th grade lunch edged out the 1st and 2nd graders by only 15 lunches!
Approximately 330 POUNDS of garbage was spared from our landfills just last week through your efforts last week.
Keep up the good/GREEN work!

It’s Back–the RF Recycling Extravaganza!

This Saturday, May 2nd, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at the River Forest United Methodist Church (on the corner of Lake and Thatcher)

Check out this poster for a complete list of what will be collected.  It’s an amazing amount of stuff–check it out and then go through those closets and the basement!  Drive Thru Recycling, what could be easier?

This event is completely volunteer driven.  Can you lend a hand?  See details and sign up here.  Thank you!

Staff Appreciation Week  5/4 – 5/8

Lights! Camera! Action!…It’s time to tune in for STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK!! The week of May 4th – May 8th we will be acknowledging the leading ladies and leading men of Lincoln, our teachers and staff, with a Hollywood themed celebration.

Every day the PTO will award Lincoln staff members with tokens of our appreciation for all they do to help our children’s lights shine bright.  However, the greatest accolades given are from YOU and your children!

Please remember to take a moment to express your gratitude to our teachers and staff for the outstanding role they have played in your child’s life–turn in the coloring worksheet that came home in Friday folders.

Please have your child draw a picture or write special note of thanks and return it to the office by this Friday, May 1st.

Let’s make Lincoln staff feel like the stars they are!

Lost & Found Alert!

The Lost & Found is teaming with sweatshirts, jackets, and yes, even a few pairs of snow pants!    Please stop by to retrieve your items.

Save the Date:  Field Day, Thurs. May 28th

fun run clip artAttention Parents, if you’re scheduling vacation days at work, you won’t want to miss this opportunity! Volunteers are needed to help coordinate a day of fun activities for 1st-4th grade students.  Responsibilities include running games, handing out water or Popsicles, running around, and most importantly, seeing your kids have a BLAST!!  This is a favorite spring event and starts with a family picnic lunch on the Lincoln field, so why not stay for the whole afternoon? Fourth Graders do a special Maypole and Drumming presentation immediately after lunch.  The day is loads of fun for all!  Field Day will be held on Thursday, May 28th.  Please sign up to volunteer on Sign Up Genius.   Contact Gina Hardy at gfrioli@hotmail.com with any questions.  Thanks!
