4/16 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Happy Earth Week!

I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. I enjoyed Easter in Chicago hanging out with friends and watching some St. Louis/Chicago playoff hockey! I am hopeful our two cities will meet up again in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs!

This week our 3rd and 4th graders will continue PARRC Testing. The schedule for the Math PARCC Assessments is below:

PARRC testing

Attached again is the class placement letter for 2017-18.  Class Placement Letter 17-18  Please respond by May 5 if you are interested in providing this optional feedback.

We’ve reached the point in the school year where 2017-18 has begun to take shape. A big part of that process is hiring new staff and making modifications to staffing assignments. There are a few noteworthy staffing-related topics that will further enhance Lincoln next year.

For starters, we are very excited to have Mrs. Kozbur as our full-time art teacher here at Lincoln next year. As you might know, for the past several years, she’s been assigned as the art instructor at both Willard and Lincoln Schools. The D90 School Board recently approved the addition of a full-time elementary art instructor, which will allow Mrs. Kozbur to enhance the art experience of our kids while also collaborating more closely with grade level teams at Lincoln and possibly providing other supports to our students.

Additionally, the D90 School Board recently approved the addition of an Assistant Principal to be shared between both Willard and Lincoln Schools. The addition of this role will have a positive impact on many aspects of our schools and district.

Finally, the retirement of Mrs. B and the relocation of Mrs. Kiep in Kindergarten have also served as the catalyst for a few staffing adjustments for next year:

  • Mrs. Lori Suzuki will be moving from 1st grade to teach Kindergarten.
  • Mrs. Kathryn Stasys will be moving from 1st grade to teach Kindergarten.
  • Mrs. Kendra Meyers will be moving from 2nd grade to teach 1st grade.

Therefore, we will be hiring new staff members for the openings in both 1st and 2nd grade. As you can see, things have been and will continue to be quite busy around Lincoln as we continue to focus on the successful completion of this year while also strategically planning for the next!

As always, thank you for your continued support of our Fine, Fine School! Please never hesitate to contact me with anything that I can help with.

Have a great week.

Connect4Kids PARCC Bonus Recess Support

C4K is creating a bonus recess for the third and fourth graders during PARCC testing. We are reaching out to PTO members in the hopes of filling the volunteer time slots. You do not need to have a child in third or fourth grade to volunteer.  Please see our Sign Up Genius schedule.

Please come rain or shine. Arrive a few minutes early to sign in at the office and meet on the black top on the Franklin side. If it is raining the school secretary will share the alternate plan at sign in.

Casey, the teachers, and the C4K group thank you in advance for supporting this initiative!

Field Day is currently scheduled for the last day of school, Thursday, June 8. Your 4th grader can choose to participate in the Maypole Dance and/or Drumming. Practices will take place the 3 weeks leading up to Field Day. We hope to start practice the week of May 15th.
