Empowering Children to Manage Social Conflict – Roosevelt PTO Event on Thursday night

When: Thursday, January 29 7-8:30pm

Where: Roosevelt Auditorium. Please enter through Door #4 on Lathrop Side of Building

Who: Carrie Goldman is the award-winning author of Bullied: What Every Parent, Teacher, and Kid Needs to Know About Ending the Cycle of Fear (Harper Collins, August 2012).

Carrie’s expertise has been featured on NPR, MSNBC, CNN Headline News, BBC, Fox, ABC Radio, cnn.com, HLN, WGN TV and WGN Radio, HuffPost Live, and more.


Young Author’s Conference Saturday 1/31

Young Authors Blank PageThe young author’s conference will take place this Saturday at Lincoln from 9 to 12. Special guest will be author Tom Watson. If your child submitted a story for the young author’s conference, don’t forget to attend this special presentation. An adult needs to be present with the child to attend.


 

 Lincoln Yearbooks now on sale!

Cover 1 If you think you ordered a yearbook last September, you didn’t.  Books were just added to the PTO Web Store last week.  Reserve a copy for your student(s) before March 1st and you’ll save $5. $20 gets you a hardcover book and souvenir pen.  Distribution is during the Ice Cream Social at the end of May.   Order on the PTO Web Store today!  Don’t forget to save your confirmation email from the PTO Web Store so you can quickly confirm your order when “end of the school year” panic sets in!

Roosevelt PTO Coffee on the Roosevelt Exterior Plan February 4th at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Have you heard about the Roosevelt Exterior Project but are not clear what the plan entails?  If you have questions or would you like to be more informed, please join us on Wednesday, February 4th at 9 a.m. or 7 p.m. in Roosevelt’s multi-purpose room.

 Waste Free Wednesdays!

Each Wednesday through April 22nd we will be celebrating waste free lunches with a hand stamp, culminating in a Waste Free Challenge during Earth Week.  This is a fun way to participate in one of your child’s favorite activities!   We are looking for 2-3 volunteers every Wednesday from 11:15 – noon.  Please consider volunteering for a quick 45 minute time slot via SignUp Genius!  (scroll way to the bottom for G4G, thanks!)


 

River Forest Youth Baseball and Softball

 

Don’t Miss Out!  Registration for the Spring season of youth softball and baseball in River Forest ends February 1st. Sign up now to avoid late fees.  Players ages 5 to 14, beginner to experienced, are welcome to sign up.
