Last Call for the Lincoln Holiday Shop!

penguin in snowglobeOur Third Annual Holiday Shop is open this Wednesday and Thursday after school:

3:10 – 4:00pm  in the Gym

Students can buy presents for friends and family–all gifts are under $10!  Lincoln Spirit Wear  is also available for purchase.  Please stop by to check out our unique gifts for that special someone!   Proceeds benefit the PTO.


Don’t forget about our Wednesday Night Puree’s Pizza and Pasta Fundraiser!

Puree FlyerGive yourself a break on Wednesdays during this busy month!  When you order take out or delivery from Puree’s Pizza and Pasta (1023 Lake Street, Oak Park) on Wednesday nights, 10% of your order will be donated to the Lincoln PTO.

Calling All Student Authors!

Young Authors Blank PageSubmissions for Young Authors are due on Monday, December 9th to your child’s teacher. 

Have fun showing off your talents. Students in Grades 1 through 8 can submit an original (not a class assignment), brand new piece of writing including: poetry, short story, graphic novel, illustrated story, or essay.

Each submission should include a sturdy cover, title page, dedication page, and “about the author” page. 

You may also register for the Young Authors Conference through the District Web Store. The Conference will take place at Lincoln School from 8:30 to 11:30 on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Registration is $5. Event fee includes refreshments and interactive workshops. Scholarships available upon request.    All information is on the event poster:  Young Authors Conf Poster 2014 (1)


Let’s Decorate the Heartworks Mitten Tree!

hats and mittensLincoln’s Fourth Grade Service Club, Heartworks, is collecting new children’s hats, gloves, scarves and mittens to donate to Hephzibah Children’s Association, which serves families and children in our area.  Please hang your donations on the tree in the school lobby by December 13th.  Thank you for your generosity.


Thank You to all our volunteers and supporters!

The PTO would like to thank all our organizers and volunteers who helped with the Book Fair and Coupon Books.  We also thank Lincoln teachers and staff for letting us take over the library for a week, and for keeping track of coupon books and payments!  Lastly, many, many thanks to all our generous patrons who help raise funds for Lincoln School.  Thank you for supporting Lincoln and our students!


Green4Good reminders for December:

Waste Free Wednesdays are still happening!  Pack your kids a waste free lunch on Wednesdays, and your child will receive a hand stamp.  Want to see Lincoln in action during the lunch hour?  Volunteer to give out hand stamps on any given Wednesday from 11:25 to 12:25!  Training provided.  Sign up here.

The Village of River Forest is recycling holiday lights!

River Forest has a collection bin to recycle holiday lights from now through Monday, Jan. 7th.  The bin is located on Central Avenue between Park and Franklin…it’s open 24 hours a day!
