Fun Lunch REGISTRATION for Winter & Spring 2014!

The Fall Registration for Fun Lunch covers lunches through January 17th.  If your child wants to continue to receive Fun Lunch for the remainder of this school year, you must register again on the PTO Web Store.  Fun Lunch is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser, and a hands down favorite for both kids and parents!  Menus remain the same: Pasta from Puree’s, Subs from Alpine, Chicken Tenders from FatDuck Grill, and Pizza from the OP Domino’s.  The last day to register is next Friday, January 17th; but  you can do it today!

Young Authors’ Conference

We are very excited for the D90 Young Authors’ Conference on Saturday, January 25 from 8:30-11:30 AM at Lincoln School!

The husband and wife author/illustrator team, Tad and France Mitchell, will give a presentation about the writing process and their delightful book Where is the Sears Tower? There will be interactive writing workshops, book signings and awards! A Continental breakfast will be served.

Your child does not need to have submitted a writing piece to attend and enjoy this spectacular event! (Please note that this is not a drop-off event.) The cost is $5.00 per child. Please sign up in advance on Revtrak or at the door.

Connect4Kids Parent Forum on Thursday, Jan. 23rd

We welcome all parents and faculty of Lincoln, Willard and Roosevelt schools to please join us for the 3rd Parent Forum sponsored by Lincoln PTO:

“Cultivating Positive Athletic Experiences” 

7:00 – 8:30pm in the Lincoln Auditorium (enter on the Franklin side)

Presented by Jim Bloch & Bob Pieper from The Team www.theteamleadership.org

Jim Bloch, a former athletic director at New Trier High School, and Bob Pieper, Department Chair for Health Education, Physical Education and head Football coach at Glenbrook North High School, are professional speakers/consultants with expertise in the athletic and leadership worlds. During their 90-minute talk they will share an important message: a successful journey with the sports experience is predicated on a shared partnership between the child, parent and coaches. You are invited to reflect on the experience you want for your child, get clear about why your choices matter, and be reminded it is about the children. We win some, we lose some…let’s put the joy back in youth sports!

The Team will outline the shared responsibility we all have in raising our kids, while encouraging us to provide healthy physical and mental first athletic experiences.  Please click TheTeamFlyer for inquiries & more information.

Stay Home Wednesday Nights and Order In!

In this freezing weather, we all need a night off.  Don’t forget that every Wednesday, take out and delivery orders from Puree’s Pizza and Pasta (1023 Lake Street, Oak Park) help raise money for the Lincoln PTO.  Be sure to mention you’re a Lincoln family!  We’re attaching a menu for your convenience:  Puree’s Menu 

River Forest Youth Baseball and Softball Registration

Don’t Miss Out!! River Forest Youth Baseball and Softball 2014 Season Registration Ends February 1st. Sign up now to avoid late fees. Players ages 5 to 14, beginner to experienced, are welcome to sign up. The season runs from late March to June. Preseason indoor clinics are also available. School fundraising doesn’t get any easier than this! Raise money for Lincoln by going to this link and clicking on either the search Amazon box or Amazon gift card box. Lincoln Elementary PTO will receive 6% of all money spent at Amazon.com through this special link (4% on electronics). There are no fees and Amazon does not share any of your information. Share the link with family and friends so all our Amazon shopping helps Lincoln school. Purchases made on Amazon kindle or through the Amazon smartphone app will not count toward fundraising. Green4Good reminders

Waste Free Wednesdays are still happening!  Pack your kids a waste free lunch on Wednesdays, and your child will receive a hand stamp.  Want to see Lincoln in action during the lunch hour?  Volunteer to give out hand stamps on any given Wednesday from 11:25 to 12:25!  Training provided.  Sign up here.

The Village of River Forest is recycling holiday lights!

River Forest has a collection bin to recycle holiday lights and extension cords. The bin is located on Central Avenue between Park and Franklin…it’s open 24 hours a day!
