11/21 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope this message finds you well and excited for the opportunity to gather with friends and family this coming week. After missing Thanksgiving 2020, personally, I’m very excited to make the trek to STL to celebrate the holiday with my friends and family in Missouri.

It is hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us. In many ways the past 20 seemed to have gone by all too slowly and in other ways, it is hard to believe that we are almost two years into the Covid-19 pandemic. Regardless of how time is measured, the experience of the pandemic has provided each of us the opportunity to self-reflect upon and prioritize the most important aspects of our lives. I’m hopeful that for your family, the upcoming holiday season is full of hope, gratitude and love. Sometimes, it’s the simplest act of gratitude that can have the most profound impact, therefore don’t forget to share some Lincoln Love.

Many thanks to all you participated in the D90 Covid Vaccination clinic this past Friday. Over 150 students were in attendance to receive their first vaccine. Special thanks to Ms. Godellas and the other staff members who were in attendance as a support system for our kids. Don’t forget the second vaccination clinic is coming up on Friday, December 10.

On behalf of the entire Godfrey family, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Thanks for your continued support of Lincoln. Enjoy every moment of the upcoming Thanksgiving break. I look forward to seeing you back at Lincoln for the final countdown of 2021 on Monday, November 29.

Happy Thanksgiving, CG

Letters About Literature

Fourth graders can participate in an optional writing contest where students can write a letter to an author reflecting on how reading that book affected and/or changed them. Please submit entries to Casey Godfrey by December 1st. If students have questions, please see Casey directly.

Rev up your Reading Tip #3:

This next week brings days off from school – which means bonus time for reading! Take a trip to the public library to stock up on books for the extra days off. Get that third book in the series. Grab that favorite author’s latest book. Pick up a Monarch or a Bluestem book to finish your list.  Pile up that stack of books for the extra hours and chilly weather (and food coma after Thanksgiving).
