10/17 Lincoln log

Lincoln Families,

Although fall officially started a month ago, for the first time, this weekend actually felt like fall. Hopefully your family indulged in some fun outdoor activities and took in the beautiful weather.

As your kids likely shared with you, the big news at Lincoln this week is the restructuring of our recess Covid-19 mitigations. As you might know, since the return to school last April, classes have been cohorted during recess and only permitted to intermingle within their class. However, effective tomorrow, all kids within the same grade level will be permitted to play freely at recess, signaling another small step to “pre-pandemic” life at Lincoln. The eruptions of excitement last week when I told the kids at lunch were incredible. The kids have been informed that masks will still be worn and encouraged to do their best to keep hands, feet and other objects to themselves.

With the arrival of fall temperatures, also come thoughts of fun seasonal traditions. While Lincoln’s fall festivities have been modified this year, please know that our staff and PTO are working to make it as fun and safe as possible. Therefore, unfortunately, there will be no costumes, fall parties or costume parade at Lincoln on Friday, October 29. However, kids are welcome to send me photos of themselves in their costumes no later than October 27 and I will compile all the photos into a video to share with all Lincoln families. Additionally, our PTO has generously funded the “virtual” return of our annual storyteller. Teachers will also incorporate many fun activities into the day including our class pumpkin decorating event.

Don’t forget registration for Fall Conferences opens later this week, please be sure to see the information below regarding how to secure your time slot. As referenced last week, to align with D90’s current safety mitigations, all conferences will be held virtually.

As always, thanks for your continued support of Lincoln. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more anyone at our school can do to better support your kids and your family. Make it a great week. CG
