1/18 Lincoln Log

Lincoln Families,

I hope this message finds you well and that you enjoyed the extra day this weekend. After a busy first week of school in 2021, I hope you found the time to rejuvenate prior to the upcoming week. It will definitely be a week of new beginnings for all of us. Welcoming kids back to school combined with the historic inauguration of a new President and Vice President, gives me great optimism and hope for our collective journey through the rest of the school year. Cheers to new beginnings!

As we prepare to welcome kids back for the first days of 2021, please remember the following:

  • Masks: All students and staff are required to wear a face mask while in school. Please remember that neck gaiters are not recognized in D90 as an acceptable face mask.
  • Self Screening: Each day, it is expected that families will self-certify that each child is free of all Covid-19 symptoms prior to arriving at school. Self certification is completed by logging into PowerSchool and following the District 90 Daily Self Certification Instructions. Families should then affix an “I was screened for Covid-19”, sticker to the outer layer of their child’s clothing prior to arriving at school. *Additional stickers will be sent home with students.*
  • Arrival/Dismissal: Please remember to arrive your assigned school entrance no earlier than 8:15am. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm through the same door they enter each morning.
  • Travel and Quarantine: All families and staff are expected to honor the District 90 guidelines for travel and quarantine. By respecting and following these guidelines, we keep our kids and staff safe.
  • Lincoln Blended Learning Handbook: Please be sure to review the Lincoln Blended Learning handbook. This resource addresses many FAQs, including entrance/exit of school, snacks, schedules and much more.
  • PE: Please make special note of your child’s PE day. PE will take place outdoors when possible, so please be sure to send your child with appropriate PE shoes.

Although it’s still several weeks away, please know that due to ongoing safety protocols related to Covid-19, we will not be permitting students to exchange valentines with their classmates. However, teachers will autonomously implement creative ways to safely celebrate Valentine’s Day with their students. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Finally, due to some schedule issues, we rescheduled the January Principal Birthday Lunch for this coming Thursday, January 21 at 1:00pm. Below is the link: January Principal Birthday Lunch

We are excited for the kick off of Blended Learning  in 2021. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything more we can do to support your family. Thank you for your ongoing support of our Fine Fine School.

Have a wonderful week. CG

Young Authors

Lincoln students have the opportunity to become the next Mo Willems or JK Rowling!  Young Authors is open to students in grades 1st – 8th.  Students can write an original piece (cannot be a school assignment) about anything they choose.  Writing pieces need to be bound and turned in to Mrs. Brauweiler by February 10th.  Attached is a flyer with more details. Some open Zoom meetings will be scheduled to check in with students.  We will have some type of school celebration later in the spring to recognize our authors.  Contact Mrs. Brauweiler if you have any questions.
