9/15 Lincoln Log
Hello Lincoln Families,
I hope you had a lovely weekend! We survived the first full week of school. Casey and I hope your family and kids are ready for our second full week!
It was so wonderful to meet many of you at Open House last Thursday! There was such an amazing buzz throughout the entire building as our community came together to celebrate the beginning of the school year. Casey and I hope that you found your time to be both enjoyable and informative! We are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead! Lincoln truly is a Fine Fine School!
In the coming weeks, students in 3rd and 4th grades will be taking the NWEA MAP Assessment. MAP is given to all 3rd and 4th grade students in the content areas of Math and Literacy. This assessment provides teachers detailed data that assists teachers in establishing learning targets while aiding in the creation of differentiated instruction for all students. The schedule for our Fall MAP testing is below:
I greatly value our family-school partnership and always have an open door. Please feel free to reach out to Casey or me if there is anything we can do to support your children and family as we get the year underway.

She will be meeting with third and fourth graders to talk about her books and writing. Her three book series – The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street – are available to purchase. The third and fourth graders have received an order form (attached here) if your family would like to purchase a book. All forms that are turned in before Monday 9/23 will be personalized and autographed.
Please note that anyone is welcome to purchase a book, not just those that will be attending the presentation. Autographed, personalized books can be purchased for non-students as well.
Volunteers Needed: Please consider spending some time in the library to help shelve books. I’ve been told it’s a relaxing way to spend an afternoon! Don’t think you have to be here for an hour – any time you have to spare is helpful. You’d be surprised how many books can be shelved in 20 minutes! If you have some time throughout the day (first thing in the morning or at the end of the day is best), we’d love to have you. Please contact Mrs. Brauweiler if you are interested in volunteering in the library and helping out our students.
Justin Roberts Concert: Justin Roberts came to Lincoln two years ago and spent the day with us sharing his books and music with us. He has a new concert program called Be Your Own Band that will get kids started on their own rock journey by learning to make simple homemade instruments out of everyday objects and then incorporating that into a concert of their fun and interactive songs. He and his band will be at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire on September 21st.
